2024 South Australia & Kangaroo Island Road Trip – Day 8

This was our last full day on KI, and halfway through our road trip. We’d seen and done pretty much everything we wanted and now went looking for things to fill our day. We started by sleeping in and then packed the car, as we were leaving KI caravan park. We drove out to Parndana where we were staying that night. Honestly, there is not much here at all. So, we headed back into Kingscote for coffee, our favourite Cafe was closed for a function, so we wandered the wharf area and then decided to drive to Pennshaw for lunch.  We saw lots of roadwork and loads of roadkill. Sadly no actual wildlife, again.

Unless you are into adventure stuff or fishing 7 days on KI is too long lol. Sure we have seen lots of these locations before, but it’s nice to revisit some too. But still, 6 days was plenty.

After lunch, we decided to drive out to Cape Willoughby lighthouse, where we had been before. The roads were bad and we slashed a tyre, thankfully we fared better this time. It looked like fire didn’t touch this area and the lighthouse looked no different. We didn’t bother with the tour this time, but a quick look around and then we hit the road again.

We stopped at Browns Beach (apparently I took no photos?) and a few other spots then on to Parndana and our cabin. Opened the door to a giant huntsman spider….ewww so we had to chase that out and then spent the afternoon doing photos, backing up, charging batteries and doing emails and such. We eventually headed over to the pub next door for dinner. The general store for food and petrol shut at 2pm, so hopefully we could fill up in the morning before we head back to Penneshaw for the ferry back to the mainland to continue our adventure.

We spent more time driving that day, but sadly nothing terribly exciting to see. Perhaps Western KI jaded our viewpoint?

Here ends day 8….stay tuned for Day 9.
